The Kansas Department of Labor recognizes the impact of COVID-19 on employers and workers alike. We are here to assist as we tackle this challenge together. Please select from a COVID-19 category below to get more help.

null Are substitute teachers, bus drivers, other school employees, cosmetologists, sales people working on commission, gig workers, self-employed workers, etc. eligible for unemployment insurance benefits due to COVID-19?

Potentially, yes. If your employment has been impacted because of COVID-19 you may be eligible for benefits. Apply for benefits and our staff will determine whether or not you are eligible. For those that are found to be not-monetarily entitled, you may be eligible for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, which was created through the federal CARES Act. We are working to establish that new program and will be sharing information on the website and social media when those benefits are available.
