Secretary Shultz Selects Monica Vargas Huertas for Appointment to the Workers Compensation and Employment Security Review Boards Nominating Committee
Secretary Amber Shultz today selected Monica Vargas Huertas to be her nominee for appointment by the Governor to the Workers Compensation and Employment Security Review Boards Nominating Committee. Huertas will be the newest member of this seven-person committee. The governor’s appointment will be effective July 1, 2021.

Kansas claimants who are currently receiving unemployment insurance benefits from the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) on the Bank of America MasterCard will receive a new debit card due to a change in service providers.
Labor Report April 2021
Preliminary estimates reported by the Labor Market Information Services (LMIS) division of the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.5 percent in April. This was a decrease from 3.7 percent in March and a decrease from 12.6 percent in April 2020.
