Women, Infant and Children Nutrition Program (WIC)
WIC is a nutrition program that provides nutrition and health education, healthy food and other services to Kansas families who qualify. Participation in WIC offers: Personalized nutrition information and support, funds to buy healthy food, tips for eating well to improve health, referrals for services that can benefit the whole family, immunization screening and referral, breastfeeding support, nutrition and health classes, meal planning, and more.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Assisting food assistance recipients who are not receiving cash assistance to prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment, with an emphasis on short-term training in high demand occupations. Services are tailored to the individual/family and may include but are not limited to: child care, education/job skills training, books and supplies, tools and/or uniforms, and personal items such as eyeglasses and dentures. All participants receive intensive case management. Transitional services are available as long as the individual continues to receive food assistance.
The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)
Provides free foods to low-income households throughout Kansas. TEFAP food is shipped throughout the year to participating organizations for distribution.
Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT)
Temporary emergency SNAP benefits for school and child care children.
Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)
Delivery of monthly surplus foods and commodities to homebound urban and rural seniors in Shawnee and Wabaunsee Counties who's household income is at or below 130% of the Federal Poverty Level.
